Chair
Dr Jeferson Araujo de Oliveira
The objective of this symposium is to explore the latest advancements and future prospects in the application of the contour method for residual stress measurement in a variety of engineering materials and components. This technique has evolved significantly over the past 25 years, offering new insights into stress distributions that were previously unattainable. The symposium will cover a wide range of topics including the fundamentals of the contour method, recent technological innovations, case studies in aerospace, automotive, and nuclear industries, as well as comparative analyses with other residual stress measurement techniques such as neutron diffraction, synchrotron X-ray diffraction, and hole-drilling methods.
Poster presentations are encouraged on topics related to the application of the contour method, advances in measurement accuracy, and novel uses in complex geometries. Please prepare an A1 portrait poster for the event; poster boards will be provided. Indicate on the registration form if you wish to present a poster, as spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon receipt of the registration fee.
An exhibition of cutting-edge instruments and software related to residual stress measurement will also be held, providing attendees with the opportunity to see the latest tools and technologies in action.
The symposium is aimed at engineers, researchers, and professionals in the fields of materials science, mechanical engineering, and stress analysis who are interested in the practical applications of residual stress measurement techniques, particularly the contour method.
